Spring Cleaning Your Scalp

Good scalp hygiene is important all year round but it is extra important in the spring, summer, and fall when we tend to sweat more. We sometimes don’t realize that our scalp is just like the skin on our face. And like our face, our scalp can sometimes benefit from a good deep cleansing during the warmer months beginning in Spring. Apple cider vinegar is one homemade way you can do this. The vinegar’s acid can remove sebum and the buildup accumulated from sweat and styling products and shampoos.

Other Ways

If you are worried about your head smelling like a salad, you can use HairStart® DexPan™ Scalp Therapy instead. It is designed to dissolve your sebum and it is helpful to rid your scalp of residues and excess perspiration. It also helps topical medications such as Minoxidil to be better absorbed into your scalp. Not only do residues and sebum hinder the absorption of topical medications, but there can also be long-term effects from such buildups on your scalp.

If you would like to know more you should meet with a hair expert at New England Associates®. You can have your hair and scalp checked under a very powerful computerized microscope and see for yourself how it all looks and if there is anything you should be concerned about.
